| 1. EXPLAIN, DON'T JUST FIX The goal of this clinic is to help everyone learn, not just to fix broken sites. When offering help, explain the /why/ behind your solution. Do not simply provide copy-paste code without explaining what the properties do; help your peers truly understand what's going on under the hood. 2. MINIMALIST REPRODUCTION If you are asking for help with a broken page, provide only the necessary snippet of code (HTML/CSS) that reproduces the issue. If your site is large, isolate only what's not working. Avoid dumping large, unrelated files; focus on the specific block causing the friction. If you don't know how to do this, ask for help! 3. "STUPID" QUESTIONS ARE WELCOME There is no such thing as a "basic" question here. We were all beginners once; gatekeeping or elitism regarding technical skill will result in a warning. 4. CREDIT YOUR SOURCES If you are suggesting a piece of code or a library found elsewhere (e.g., StackOverflow, MDN, or another artist's site), please provide a link to the original resource. 5. KEEP IT ASYNCHRONOUS Do not expect instant replies. Site members help here for free and often times have one or more full time jobs to attend to outside this forum. Allow 24–48 hours for a thorough response. If you solve your own issue before a response arrives, please reply to your own thread with the solution. 6. NO "FIX-IT-FOR-ME" REQUESTS You are the owner of your digital space. While we're happy to help, we will not build your entire site for you. Come to the forum with an attempt or a specific problem; do not ask for a full site to be coded from scratch. 7. SEARCH BEFORE YOU POST Unlike chat platforms like Discord, this forum doubles as a full archive. Before starting a new thread, please use the search function to see if your technical issue has already been asked. If you find a similar thread, feel free to bump it with a follow-up question if yours isn't exactly the same. |
